Judith Evans
Judith Evans is a founding member and the manager of the firm. She earned a bachelor of arts degree with a double major in biology and German at the University of Nevada, Reno, and a doctor of philosophy degree in cellular neurobiology at Columbia University in the City of New York. While a graduate student at Columbia, Dr. Evans was published in the prestigious journal Science Magazine and was awarded the John S. Newberry Prize at Columbia University 1979 for excellence in vertebrate zoology. Postgraduate work brought her to the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Evans obtained her juris doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia, where she took courses in its strong patent track program, graduating in the top 11% of her class. She was a summer associate at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett and Dunner. After being admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia, in Virginia, and before the U.S. Patent Office, she worked as an associate attorney at Hale and Dorr: at Fish and Richardson in their Washington, D.C., offices: and at Jones and Volentine, PLLC, in Reston, Virginia. Dr. Evans has also served as an executive vice president for a biotech start-up with an anti-cancer drug in clinical trials in Canada. She managed their patent portfolio of about 75 active cases, wrote and prosecuted patent applications, managed patent litigation in federal court in New Mexico, and performed other corporate development and management tasks. Dr. Evans has experience in writing biotechnology licenses and in drafting legal opinions.
